I’m doing a report on ethnic cleansing vs. genocide, and finding information if a bit hard. I need some trusted sites (no wikipedia) that can tell me the difference. Any help is appreciated!

Ethnic cleansing is the politically correct term for genocide. It’s used so that (god forbid) we don’t offend those committing it.

And the Holocaust is definitely genocide, but could it be called ethnic cleansing too?

Ethnic Cleansing is a little more specific as it directed towards people that share the same heritage. Genocide is a little more encompassing and is directed towards a people with the same religious, political or national identity. The difference is subtle and the term ‘ethnic’ can often be misused, especially by the media. I would say the Holocaust was a genocide as you said because gypies, blacks, homosexuals and communists were targeted, but when specifying the particular genocide towards Jews, you could call that ethnic cleansing.

It sounds wrong to me to do that..like it will clog my pores or whatever but i wish to double confirm if using cleansing oil will help control oil? Will it clog pores?

I need to choose a cleanser that can control oil and wont clog pores, can deep cleanses, remove makeup residue and not drying but i dont know what type to choose. Should i get those foam, milk or oil types?

I don’t have a oily, dry, or pimply face. But sometimes i have blackheads or clogged pours. I noticed after i use any facial cleansing product i get red bumps. I suspect I need gentle washes. Any suggestions?

I would go with a more gentle approach or even a natural one.
Another suggestion is witch hazel you can just dab it on the affected areas without doing your whole face.
Don’t use soap off any kind of wash your face.
Lemon juice is also a good facial cleanser but you wouldn’t need to use it every day similar to withchazel just dab in the affected areas it will dry out and fight against the bacteria that is on your face hence why you get breakouts now and then.
Also look for a natural olive oil based moisturiser or an almond one.

My grandma needed to strengthen her thin hair and the hairdresser gave her a cleansing shampoo.
She has really dry very short hair which she washes less than once a week with this shampoo.

cleansing or clarifying shampoos can really strip the hair of its natural oils if you use it too often. I would recommend a volumizing shampoo for fine hair.

Just take fiber. Colon cleanses are BS. I read studies on them and they found that they did nothing beneficial for the body.

I keep seeing "ethnic cleansing" used in the media, particularly in reference to the war in Iraq. Does this mean that there is genocide going on there? If so why aren’t more people concerned? What exactly is the difference between these two terms, or are they synonyms?

There is no difference–if you look at it. The US military is clearly guilty of mass genocide on a number of ocassions–but all we see is one coverup after another; in a blind attempt to keep the truth from the people. (Fog of war syndrome.)

And here we have a suppressed people (the Shiites) taking their pound of meat against the Sunnis and–again–the US military does NOTHING to stop the ethnic clensing.

And when all is said and done, Bush has claimed that the "surge" he instituted is a success–not realizing that there was no real victory to begin with. The Shiites did what they wanted and we let them. (Tit for tat killings.)

What’s even worse? We’re ARMING our former Shiite enemies and paying them not to kill our troops.

I am cleansing my insides. The 7 day diest calls for only fruit the first day, only veggies the second, fruits and veggies the third, bananas, 3 glasses of milk, and a special soup the fourth, tomatoes and 2 10 oz portions of beef on the fifth day, beef and veggies the sixth, and brown rice, fruit juices, and veggies the seventh. plus lots of water everyday.

the soup is a supplement to the diet. it includes 28 oz of h2o, 6 large onions, 2 green peppers, whole tomatoes, 1 head of cabbage, 1 bunch of celery, 4 envelopes of lipton onion soup mix, and herbs/spices for flavor.

My only problem is I don’t know how to prepare the soup…can anyone help?

Bring the water to a boil. Than add the soup mix. stir. Your going to need to chop up your ingrediants. Once you add the soup mix, start adding the ingrediants gradually. Once you do that, add the wanted seasonings. Cook until it seems ready.

I just bought the Nozema deep Cleansing Cream. I use it twice a day. In the morning when I wash my face for work and in the night when i take a shower. I wash my face with hot water before putting it on. I wash it with cold to rinse it off. I wanted to unclogged my pores. how long before I see results? it really tingles when i use it. i used to cleanse, tone and moisturise my skin every day but i eventually stopped coz i didnt really see any difference. now i’ve started again using new products and my face has just broken out with spots quite badly. i’m not sure if its just because i’ve started cleansing etc again or if its a sign i’m using the wrong products. i bought products for combination skin because i have dry and oily patches on my face. should i persevere with this 1 or try a different brand? i use oil free foundation so i’m assuming its not that

I started doing all of the 3 above a few wks ago and my face has come out in a few spots this wk. I very rarely get spots, do you think its down to cleansing, toning and moisturising?

I do all of that as well. Sometimes your skin has to get used to being so clean! I know it sounds weird, but my skin was all out of whack for the first week or so, then it gradually evened out. Now my skin is great.

Does the proactiv deep cleansing body wash work? If so how long does it take for it to work? This is for moderate to mild body acne. Also, if used with the body pads and/or body lotion by proactiv will this make it work faster too?

I’ve been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it’s at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I’m 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

I have a really oily T-zone and i’ve tried loads of cleansing products for my face but most are too harsh on my cheeks and dry them out leaving my cheeks tight and sore.

They are square and white like most facial cleansing cloths but these are fairly shiny and are made of fabic in a fairly tight weave. One side has soap and the other side feels rough on your skin and is very exfoliating. I can’t remember what kind they are so I can buy them again. Any thoughts?

I have a deep cleansing oxygenating mask that has some different kinds of acids in it and I don’t know how often to use it because it doesn’t say on the bottle. Is it an every day kind of thing or what? Because I have some acne trouble and I would really love to get rid of it!

Masks don’t help too much with acne. The problem is that when your young you shouldn’t use the wrong makeup. My first line of makeup was I.D. bare minerals. Chemical peels are expensive, but they help. There are different face wash stuff out there that get rid of acne.
I’m pretty sure it’s not an everyday thing.
You should really start using a natural makeup.

When doing a colon cleansing should you go to a facility that specializes in colon cleaning or is it safe to use natural herbs from a herb shop.

Unless you have a colon problem you probably shouldn’t do anything to "cleanse" the colon. If you do have colon problems then you need to consult a physician.

I was given a cleansing bottle at the hospital to use for postpartum care and needed to know what exactly it’s for and how exactly are you supposed to use it?

Good grief it isn’t a douche and don’t even consider it as such that would be infection waiting to happen!!!!! You fill it with comfortably warm water and after using the toilet you use it to gently wash the perineum clean, follow that by gently patting dry with toilet paper. It is very helpful in the first few days and can be more comfortable if you have had any stitches.

Your skin will keep going downhill if you keep putting products on it and keep trying to scrub it and stuff. You have sebum on your skin for a reason, its there to protect your skin. You use products and cleansing pads, you are removing the sebum, so your skin will get worse over time. Stop washing too often, stop washing too roughly. Focus on diet more, and on products and treating the skin externally LESS.

There are so many different products(ie:mosturizers,toners,face wash, cloths, scrubs, masks) I was wondering what should the main cleansing routine be? Also which products work best but are affordable?

Here’s what your daily routine should be:

Morning:
-Cleanse.
-Tone. (Toners are meant to remove all remaining traces of oil, makeup and dirt, but a good cleanser should do this.)
-Moisturize.
- SPF (Sun block. The SPF of a sunblock really depends on how long you plan on being out in the sun. SPF of 8, if you’re indoors all day. SPF 30, if you’re outside. If you don’t want to buy more than one SPF, just get SPF 15, it’s a good medium.)

You should let the moisturizer and SPF set for atleast 5 minutes before you apply your make up.

Moisturizer and SPF should be unscented. Fragrances clog pores. A good line of skin care products won’t include fragrances. But if you’re shopping at Wal-Mart or so, you should be aware of this.
Never use hand lotion for a moisturizer on your face. The skin on your face is different from your hands. Your face is much more sensitive.

Your night time routine will include:
-Cleansing.
-Toning (If you chose to, remember, if you splurged on a good cleanser, you don’t really need to do this step.)
-Exfoliating (But only two or three times a week.)
-Moisturize.

Never use a scrub to exfoliate. Cheap-o scrubs such as St. Ives Apricot Scrub have granules that are triangular in size and they can cause microscopic tears in your skin. The tears can fill up with dirt and oils causing you to break out.
You should exfoliate with a mask. (You can also exfoliate by simplying using a washcloth while cleaning your face, but I don’t suggest only exfoliating that way. You should use a mask, too.)

If you have acne, you should ALWAYS splurge on GOOD products. I really like the skin care line Skinceuticals. Their products are around 30 bucks a piece. But it is well worth the money.
Avoid any skin care products with benzoyl peroxide. It’s too drying and can irritate the skin.

Otherwise, if you have perfectly good skin, but want to be in a habit of a good skin care regiment, you can use products from like your local Wal-Mart.

Neutrogena focuses mainly on oily skin types. If you’re not oily, their products might be too drying for you.

Olay focuses on mature skin (Aging, wrinkles,.. etc.)

Avoid skin care lines that don’t focus solely on skin care such as Revlon. Because really, how much can they know and truly care about skin care if they’re making products like hair dye and curling irons? Um..

You can go to beauty marts and find products that are just as affordable as Wal-Mart brands. And they’ll be more than likely better than some brands at Wal-Mart.

PS: I use Wal-Mart just as an example. Nothing against them. In general, I’m talking about any super market. Target, etc.

I would like to go on a cleansing diet but I don’t want to compromise my daily activities. I do some heavy house cleaning everyday, wash the car, and all the household chores. I also do some strength training exercises. I am worried that if I go on a cleansing diet, I wouldn’t have enough energy because I wouldn’t have any protein.

Well Donna, you’re on the right track there with your questions, and I must say I am impressed. I’d say in this case following your instincts would be a very wise decision, especially since the "cleansing diets" are usually very rough on your body while only "cleaning" out good things, not bad. I’d suggest more research on this in google if you are interested.

It sounds like you are already very busy on a daily basis, so I won’t get into exercising. However, if you are still interested in a diet, I have been hearing great things about calorie shifting. Green tea is health, but it’s not a colon cleanser.

At my work they have body cleansing drinks, particaularly aimed towards using prior to a drug test, though not claimed.

Creatine monohydrate is the first ingredient on the list, followed by a megadose of B vits.

That doesn’t make sense as creatine will hold water, the opposite of detox.

I am very energy sensitive and need to know how to make a cleansing and recharging box for my jewelry. I know where to buy them, but would like to try creating my own. I think I would also like to use the box for my voodoo dolls as well. Any information is appreciated.

Make sure you use very dry pine for a material, then, after ya finish making the box, and put ALL of your "stuff" inside, season the wood by using a blow torch, and make sure ya leave the torch on until it’s totally ablaze, then see if the dolls can put it out. Good luck with all that!

Such as before i do anything to my face, i rub the cleansing pad over my face, instead of using a face wash?

Or do i use a face wash and then use the rub the cleansing pad on affected area because its an acne medicine?

And then afterward could i apply a moisturizer over?

You should only be using one acne medication at a time, more than that can cause excess drying and may actually cause your skin to secrete more oil to heal the over drying.

Anyways… I would use any wash first, because that will get rid of the surface oil and dirt. Then use the OXY cleansing pad, because that will get a little deeper.

I’ve been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T…..EXPENSIVE!! I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

The U.N. takes its time to consider something a genocide, like what they did in Darfur’s case. Ethnic cleansing is not defined as a punishable act in international laws, so does calling something ethnic cleansing relieve pressure on the U.N. and allow them to turn the other cheek?

Ethnic cleansing is the forcible removal of an ethnic group from a specified area. Genocide is the mass murder of people of a specific ethnicity. While you can certainly make arguments against the former, I think you will agree that the latter is far worse.

I read in a magazine before that with breakout prone skin sometimes a facial is actually bad for you. I have only had facial once but never a deep cleansing.

My brother has bad acne prone skin and got a deep cleansing facial once. It’ll make you break out more because it is drawing impurities out of your skin. Instead of a facial I would get a mask to help unclog pores, but again it’s drawing gunk out so you’ll break out. If you get one, spread out your facials, once a month is sufficient. Good luck!

I’ve read that negative ions are a natural cleansing agent. Can you explain how this works.

This is pseudoscience, ignore it.

If you really want to nitpick, stuff with a negative charge will attract various things with a positive charge, and thus can remove small quantities of stuff that’s relatively light like dust or pollen, but overall, this is meaningless. I’m going to assume you’re referring to various air filterers, since this is where this negative ion crap usually comes up. Negative ion cleansing is probably one of the biggest scams being pulled off today with products that just plain don’t work. In theory these impart a negative charge to various particles which then affix themselves to positively charged surfaces which you wipe off. In reality this doesn’t work so hot for a variety of reasons I won’t go into. You’re way better off with a HEPA filter which is vastly more effective and doesn’t rely on mumbo jumbo to sell their products. Probably, the negative ion stuff works to some extent, but I don’t believe for a second it’s in the same ballpark as a good filter. Particularily, be wary of being fooled by the ozone smell they give off as being fresh air (ozone is dangerous to anyone, particularly people with respiratory problems).

The previous answers seem to be focusing on things from a cleaning detergent perspective. These don’t really have anything to do with "negative ions" per se, although in a grander scheme they do involve charge. Detergents work by trapping dirt and oils and whatnot inside micelles. A micelle is basically a ball of molecules with the hydrophobic end facing inward, which attracts oils and various organics, and the hydrophilic end facing outward towards the water you’re washing it in. So the hydrophilic end, or the end that is attracted to oils and junk that can’t be cleaned by water sucks up the dirt, and this naturally forms into a ball. Oils inside. Water outside. So dirty stuff can be dissolved by the water/detergent solution and gets trapped inside the detergent, which can then be washed away by water. Again, this doesn’t really have anything to do with negative ions.

For the record, I have a BS in chemistry and have a fairly good understanding of the science involved (or lack thereof) in "negative ion cleansing".

Just as it is important to cleanse your physical body from time to time, it is also important to perform cleansing on the chakras as well. You can not see your chakras, however they are your energy centers are are just as much a part of your body as your lungs or colon is.

A less dramatic yet all natural way to cleanse your colon is to simply get more fiber in your diet. You can do this by eating more roughage such as salads and green leafy vegetables, or you can take a fiber supplement as well.

My friend was in her mid fifties as she rambled on about cleansing diets and detoxification. Out of respect for the fact she was older than I, my initial ridicule was stuffed back down my throat and I politely listened. This would have made sense to me if Kate and my room mate were friends, but in reality they had only met once for less than three minutes. After the commotion died down, the room mate carried on for awhile about how wonderful she felt. Her colon cleansing had apparently solved her chronic back ache she’d been complaining of for several years. Ironically, a few days later I saw my friend Kate again, and she looked really good. In fact, she looked better than I had ever seen her before. When I complimented her on this, she launched into a full scale explanation of the cleansing diet. She explained how it cleansed everything she felt like she had been carrying around in her body for nearly 60 years and just washed it away. She told me that the cleansing diet made her feel like she was 20 again.

By now I am realizing that there’s something about this cleansing diet that I just didn’t get. At home I had seen the results of what appeared to be a very successful colon cleansing while right in front of me was the very obvious results from the cleansing diet.

I certainly didn’t know that some people actually become addicted to cleansing diets. This definitely concerned me. I was relieved to know that there are a couple of cleansing diet programs out there that do tell you how to avoid this and why cleansing diet addiction happens.

I did know that it is possible to overdose on vitamins, and while vitamins are an important part of ridding the body of toxins, there has to be a way to know when you are abusing the benefits of vitamins. I found a few more cleansing diets that offered information on avoiding vitamin overdosing. Although most of the information on cleansing diets that offered information on avoiding vitamin overdosing didn’t offer information on cleansing diet addiction, and only one offered information on vitamin overdosing, cleansing diet addiction, and informed me on how to avoid the toxins altogether.

I dug a little deeper. There are ample people out there selling information on cleansing diets, some which include information on cleansing diet addiction, vitamin overdosing, and avoiding toxins. However these people aren’t offering a cleansing diet plan! So now I have to go purchase a cleansing diet plan from one organization and then turn around and try to find comprehensive information on cleansing diet addiction, vitamin overdosing, and avoiding toxins. Why doesn’t everyone just include it all in one package?

Well, it turns out that someone does. The package includes everything I wanted to know plus a few things that I didn’t know that I wanted to know. The package included information on being aware of the potential to overdose on vitamins, a section on cleansing diet addiction, and even a section on avoiding toxins. Apparently there are 84 common toxins that I needed to be aware of. That’s quite a few things I come in daily contact with that contain toxins. On top of all this information that I wanted, the package also included actual recipes for following a highly effective cleansing diet. I was so excited to find this.

I got hold of the , detoxmanual and found out that there is so much more information, despite my research, that I still needed to know. There are the common toxins, which everyone knows about and includes in their cleansing diet plans, but there are also some that most people are unfamiliar with that are still easy to avoid. But since most people are unfamiliar with them, they aren’t included in every cleansing diet plan.

The package offered in detoxmanual contained everything I ever wanted to know about an effective cleansing diet. In fact, I haven’t found a more comprehensively covered cleansing diet plan out there on the internet as of yet, and truthfully I doubt that I ever will.
